Day out: Stameriena / Stameriena Castle

My bestie Džeina called me and offered to drive me for a walk.

A little off-topic: I have a driving license for a year now but I’m too scared to drive. I’m not driving. Džeina has a driving license for almost 10 years now and finally, she isn’t scared and she is ready to drive wherever we want! So this was our first-time driving somewhere together without kids (she has a son about Nelles age) or Janis!

We decide to go to Stameriena and visit Stameriena Castle. It’s not like there is something to see in the castle (it’s not renovated), but we were attracted by the lake and the castle park as itself! Nice view for the walks and lovely autumny colors at the moment! The weather was perfect – sunny! Not much sunny days lately! More about Stāmerienas Castel history you can find here.

It was so nice of Džeina to take me out of my home and my problems to get me charged for a few days! It inspired me… and I’m ready to continue with my kitchen project!

Thank you, Džeina!

P.S. For those who wonder how to spell Džeina – Jaina 🙂

  1. Great to see you had some time off. I had seen that castle when I did my recent virtual trip round Latvia, prompted by one of your posts.
Petronela has a driving licence. She won’t drive either. So I’m the ‘taxi driver’ – unpaid. See my post later today about her ‘first day at school’. At the moment I’m sitting in the library till it’s time to pick her up. Leaving in a few minutes.

    1. 🙂 Oh, there is those who drive and those who have blue blood and need the driver! I guess I will drive one day just waiting for my nerves to calm down 🙂

  2. Looks like you had a lovely day away. We all need away time to recharge our batteries and feed our soul. What a perfectly peaceful setting. How nice to have this beautiful parkland and castle to share with a friend. I hope you felt refreshed…, back to work, right?

    1. Back to work! YES! And that place is only 20 minute drive away from home :). I guess that driving licence isn’t bad thing if you want to get away in countryside where isn’t public transportation! 🙂

    1. Thank you! That castle from outside looks nice and they are renovating it a bit at the moment. Inside is “broken” there was school and all the beautiful ceilings and walls are gone :(. It’s pity we had “Soviet Union time” where everything that was beautiful was turned into something common 😦

  3. What a great outing! It is good to get out and away to recharge. Why are you afraid to drive? Do it – you will not be sorry! Don’t let yourself be trapped by letting your fear win. My grandma never drove and always regretted letting her fear limit her. You deserve the freedom it affords you. I do hope you can overcome your fear as it will be lifechanging! Hugs!!

  4. I’ll admit driving does come in handy. Especially in the U.S. with families so far away. Maybe you should take the plunge and try a short drive. I love driving for the pure pleasure of going somewhere new.

    1. OH, I guess my confession eats me now :). I drive only short drives to small city – village and back. But still all that parking and other cars made me nervous :). There is one thing I’m not good at 😀

    1. Thank you! I didn’t like Stameriena in the summertime. I don’t know why… but this time it was beautiful and I stood there with my mouth wide open – how beautiful. I couldn’t capture those feelings!
