So… I finally found and bought a vintage sofa set! I was thrilled when I saw the photos—charming, with character and perfect curves – just like me :). But when it arrived… let’s just say it doesn’t look exactly like in the ad. 🙈 It’s still ok…

I paid 300 EUR for delivery (they came all the way from Lithuania!), and honestly, I’m not in the mood to start a fight over it. The color, even if not exactly what I imagined, actually works quite well in my room. So… I’m keeping them!

I’ve already found a cleaner who will come and do a deep clean. They are really dirty (seller told, it’s not that bad). Fingers crossed that helps! 🤞
But if not? I might just roll up my sleeves and do a DIY makeover—change the fabric and give them a fresh new look. From what I know, I’ll need some upholstery fabric and an electric staple gun. I might be crazy enough to try and sucseed 🙂
All of us love them! They are so comfy!

Let’s see where this goes. Either way, I’m calling it a charming chapter in my home renovation story. Finishing! The best part 🙂 💛
What do you think?

Exciting. Besides possibly working on them, enjoy sitting on them too. 😊🙏
Thank you, Ashley! I certainly plan to enjoy — but comfy vintage sofas are made for cozy moments, right? What would your ideal spot to relax look like?
A gentle walk on the coast with the sea at my feet and the wind blowing all worries away! 🤗😊
Oh, wow! Now I want to go for a walk on the coast!
OMG! I am way, way, way older than you and actually love modern, Italianate furniture but you have a bargain !!! I remember a very similar set in our living room in Tallinn in my early childhood! This has terrific ‘bones’ and I personally love the colour and, if it will carefully clean, leave the old fabric! The colour is beautifully neutral and fits in with your room. I love the shape and size of the chairs and your living room is large enough for the pieces to look right!
Thank you, Eha! I love that you remember a similar set from your childhood in Tallinn—it gives these pieces such heart. I plan to change the fabric of pillows… Read here: https://latvianmom.com/2025/08/08/vacation-day-5-clean-sofa-sewing-plans/ . What treasures do you still remember fondly from your childhood home?
It’s perfect for your home, Ilze. It looks so comfy. And I love the view outside, too, as seen from the window.
Thank you, Hazel! The view does make them feel even cozier. Do you have a favorite window view in your home that you always find comforting?
Yes, in the rooftop where it is my workspace. I love its ambience, the mountain views in front and the birds that sing with me. Ah, varied soundscape as I said in one of my blogs here. My neighbors are unpredictable, too
That sounds like such a beautiful and inspiring workspace — mountain views, birdsong, and a changing soundscape must make every day feel different. 😊 I can imagine your neighbors add a bit of surprise to the mix too! What’s the most unexpected thing you’ve heard from them so far?
Their karaoke mostly every day when there’s no blackout.🤭 imagine? Sometimes the song don’t like the singer 😁
I can’t imagine that 🙂 Or maybe I can 🙂 It’s so interesting to have bloggers around the world! Do you know other blogs from your country?
Indeed, I love the fact to connect bloggers around the world. Yes, I have a few subscribers from the Philippines. It’s great.
If you see someone else from Latvia, let me know! It’s hard to find anyone who blogs (usually Instagram, TikTok) from Latvia.
I’ll let you know, Ilze, when I get subscribers from Latvia. Enjoy your Monday!
Thank you, you too!
My pleasure, Ilze. Love and gratitude
The furniture is beautiful and looks gorgeous in your room!!!
Thanks so much! It really is growing on me. What’s one piece of furniture in your home that makes the whole room feel more inviting?
Looks good! a deep clean/reupholster should do the trick – please let us
see photos when it’s done!
Thank you! I just shared photos: https://latvianmom.com/2025/08/08/vacation-day-5-clean-sofa-sewing-plans/ . What kind of transformations inspire you most—cleaning or full reupholstery?
I love the set, Ilze. It’s got charm and elegance and looks super comfy in the deal 🙂
Thank you, mjeanpike! Charm and elegance are exactly what I was hoping for. What kind of vintage finds do you find most irresistible?
Mostly kitchen items. Bright colored mixing bowls, old sifters and graters. I recently scored a 1950’s style table 🙂
This is a majestic set and goes with your China cabinet.
Thank you, Mary! I hadn’t thought of how well they pair with the China cabinet, cause it’s around the corner and I can’t see 🙂 —but you’re right. Do you often mix vintage pieces with older heirlooms in your space?
I do. Most things in my home are trim because of limited space, but everything is something I love.
That is lovely, Mary! I’m afraid I will bring so much that my house will get crammed…
Fantastic purchase.
I think so too…
