I got busy potting out my tomatoes. And yes… I did it the way I always do — sowing them all together in one container instead of carefully placing one seed per pot like a more patient gardener probably would. I know the “right” way. One seed, one pot, neat and simple. But somehow I never follow it.
Instead, I end up with a tiny tomato forest. And then comes the untangling.
It’s a bit of a process — gently separating the seedlings, trying not to damage those fragile roots, moving each one into its own little space. Still, there’s something satisfying about it. Giving each plant its own room to grow.

After that, I moved on to flowers. It felt like I had to — like the season wouldn’t properly begin without them. Zinnias, cosmos, poppies, and Chinese asters. Will see, will see… I’m not the only one that struggle with seedings this year…

There’s still a long way to go. Transplanting again, hardening off, hoping the weather behaves, hoping I don’t forget to water on a busy day. But for now, everything feels calm and right.
Just me, a table full of cups, and the promise of tomatoes and flowers.

Oh, there is no right way or wrong way – you know what has worked for you before . . . so, in a relaxed manner, why not repeat and wait for the results . . . best of luck. . . in Estonian we would say ‘joudu’ > ‘strength’!
Oh, I love that word — joudu! It sounds strong and calm at the same time. I think you’re right… sometimes I overthink and try to “do it right,” but in the end it’s just about doing and seeing what happens 🌱
The ‘o’ in ‘Joudu’ has a wave on top of it I can’t make on this computer – yes, you are so right . . . it does have quiet strength! But – don’t try to live your life ahead of time worrying about ALL the things which might go ‘wrong’ and 90% of time don’t 🙂 ! Get up in the morning, look out of the window, smile at puss’ antics and at the stork if he has landed on top of the tree . . . things happen or don’t and usually you cannot do anything but just cope with the situation as it happens usually not as bad as you worried . . . bestest . . .
Looks like quite a bit of work to me. Something else just caught my attention as well, I’ve read a few of your articles already and left a comment here and there, but apparently I’m missing quite a few too, which is a bit odd. I follow your blog through the WordPress reader and it clearly has its quirks. Seems like I’ve got some catching up to do, strange.
The same happened with blogs I follow! I was curious why they don’t post, but then I discovered – they do! I just don’t have the notification!
yep, same here – the IT guy or woman did a poor job, maybe we should offer our services to WordPress 🙂
I’m so hating my job right now 🙂 (client support via email) I might go back to testing 🙂
Client support via email doesn’t sound all that simple either, it’s not exactly the easiest way to explain things to someone.
I know! But it’s good for me, I struggle with “spotlight” and I can zoom with clients, but I never did that, I struggle with my answers “on spot”. It feels like my brain is freezing up…. and nothing is coming in my mind!
That actually makes sense, I used to be the same. Not everyone thinks well on the spot, some people just need a bit of space to give a proper answer, and email fits that perfectly. Nothing wrong with that, just a different way of working.
I wasn’t like this.. but I’m happy I can still work 🙂
Wow, you have that wonderful Green Thumb, Ilze! You can grow everything. ❤️
John, I’m not sure about it! Something isn’t right with my plants, but I blame it on the weather 🙂 I still think you can grow!
They look fine to me, and I have thought about getting plants for the house but have never followed through…
Don’t tell me you don’t have houseplants!!!!???
I must tell you that I do not have house plants, Ilze. Please don’t be mad. 😮
I wish I can send you one over!
That’s so sweet, Ilze! I can buy all manor of plants at the nursery a couple of miles from me, I suppose its the Minimalist in me…
I think it’s not a minimalist 🙂 Let me know if and when you get a house plant or planter with herbs outside 🙂
I will never set a garden up in the backyard but an indoor plant that needs little sun or water is easy!
That sounds like a perfect start actually 🙂 Something simple, no pressure. Even one plant changes the feeling in a room. I’m curious what you’ll choose!
And then… the same in outdoor space, a pot of your favorite herb on the outdoor table 🙂
I don’t use my favorite herb anymore…
I do it like this as well. I sometimes think of myself as a lazy gardener.
I hope i’m the lazy gardener as well 🙂
If something can be simplified why make it more difficult?
Yes, exactly! I think I’m slowly learning this… not everything has to be complicated to work. Maybe that’s what gardening is teaching me 🌱
Your productivity will pay off in many ways, Ilze.
I really hope so 🙂 Right now it just feels like a lot of small steps, but maybe later it will all come together.
