Vacation Day 25 – Rainy Garden Harvest and Cozy Evening

I went to the garden and collected a few new beetroots and carrots – regular ones and purple ones. We had potatoes together with chicken legs; they made a hearty dinner. It’s such a rainy and cold day outside… perfect for staying cozy inside with comfort food.

Jānis brought me a cinnamon roll, and the cloudy sunset was absolutely amazing.

I can’t believe it’s already August and that summer—and my vacation—is almost over. I had such a lovely time. There’s still some pillow-making to do, but maybe that will wait for the weekend.

  1. Relax . . . enjoy . . . smile . . . don’t count the days, just have fun during the hours . . . we had 19 C max yesterday and thought it miserably cold 🙂 !

  2. Love beets (and turnips and potatoes), root vegetables are always good. Dang it now I’m going to have to go make some cinnamon rolls!

    1. How do you make them? I wish I could make them from scratch… anytime 🙂 But that might be a terrible idea, I would bake them all the time.

  3. I have a sweet, butter bread recipe that I use. I roll out the dough in a rectangle, spread softened butter over the dough, sprinkle it with brown sugar and then cinnamon. I tightly roll up the dough and then cut it into about 2-3 inch pieces and place them in a greased pan. Raise for about 45 minutes, then bake. When cool, I spread a frosting of cream cheese, butter and powdered sugar over them.
