A Birthday Visit… with a Bear Warning

Sunday was a family day — we went to visit my brother because it was his birthday!

We decided to make a little adventure out of it and headed to the Purezers Nature Trail. It sounded like the perfect place for a forest walk after birthday cake and shashlik!

Except… there had been a bear visiting the trail recently. And apparently, people had actually seen it there before — just not today.

Wait… what?! 😂

So instead of happily wandering through the woods, enjoying the trees and taking our time, we suddenly became very aware of every. single. sound. around us.

Let’s just say our nature walk was a little less “peaceful forest stroll” and a lot more “Are we absolutely sure this is a good idea?” 😂

Still, it was a lovely day — and definitely a birthday visit we won’t forget! ❤️

  1. We in the Netherlands have wild wolves since a couple of years. Mostly they are afraid of humans, but alas not always. It IS a bit of a concern lately. Bears, however, we don’t have running in the wild, and I find that a relief. 🙂

  2. With more than one of you there and in the middle of the day methinks the bear would have made an ‘urgh’ noise and wandered away . . . ? I haven’t asked my Estonian friends but both bears and wolves were/are certainly present in Estonian woods but I think they keep away from people only attacking if they feel threatened ???
