How Is It October Already?

September is over.

Already.

I honestly don’t know how that happened. I feel like I blinked somewhere around the beginning of September and now it’s October 1.

We don’t have any huge plans for October. Life here is mostly made up of the usual things — garden, house, cooking, work, trying to keep up with everything — and somehow the days just keep disappearing.

There are a couple of things happening in October, though.

We’ll celebrate my mom’s birthday here at our house, which means I’ll probably start thinking about what to cook approximately five minutes after writing this.

And then we’re having an exchange student staying with us for a week. That should be interesting. A new person in the house, a different routine, probably some English mixed with Latvian and whatever other communication methods become necessary. 😄 I’m curious how it will feel to have someone new suddenly become part of our everyday family life for a few days.

Apart from that… nothing much is planned. And honestly, I’m quite okay with that.

I wouldn’t mind a few proper autumn days first — colourful trees, mushrooms, cold mornings and sunshine. The kind of October that makes you want to put on a jacket and go outside, rather than the kind that immediately makes you think, well, I suppose winter is coming.

So hello, October.

Please don’t rush.

Ilze

  1. Happy Birthday to your mum! I agree, the entire year has flown by at airliner speed and it needs to slow down. The older you get the faster time appears to be moving…
