Maca & Cacao drink or Macachino

Macachino. So, what is Macachino (in my family!)?

It’s a super drink I choose when I’m not in the mood for coffee… and it happens very often lately!

I used to drink coffee two times per day. White american coffee (I didn’t know there is coffee and american coffee until I asked for coffee in Italia) with extra milk and foam. The first was at the morning and the second one in the afternoon always with some treat and from a small and delicate china cup (like a Hyacinth from “Keeping up appearances”). It was like a ritual! I didn’t like the jitters I have after taking the coffee… yet I keep up with ritual. Every afternoon I drunk coffee and I ignore my stomach ache and jitters.. and then I heard about Maca. You can reed about maca here.

Now I have choice :). For those who wonder how does maca taste?! Organic Burst describes it tastes malty and slightly earthy, with hints of caramel! I would say, you should start with small amount of maca and increase the dosage slowly to get used to it (I’m talking about taste and also about your body to get used to the new supplement).

Recipe below.

  • Servings: 1 big cup
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Print

  • 1 1/2 cup milk of your choice
  • 1/2 tsp maca powder (I use Organic Burst)
  • 1 tsp cocoa powder
  • rice syrup or other sweetener to taste (optional)

  1. In a saucepan heat up the milk (about 60° C).
  2. Froth the milk and add maca and cocoa powder. Mix it all together.
  3. Add rice syrup to taste. Ready!
