Day 1: Reconnecting with Salacgriva – Embracing the Sea

Salacgriva holds a special place in my heart. It’s where I grew up, where familiar faces and cherished memories intertwine with the salty sea breeze. I had the chance to reconnect with this beloved hometown and let me tell you, it was a return worth celebrating!

For the past few years, my busy schedule had kept me away from one of my favorite activities: swimming in the sea. Life has a way of getting in the way of simple pleasures, but this time, I made it a priority. And boy, am I glad I did.

Our recent visit to Salacgriva was different from the others in one key way: the sea was the star of the show. Despite the day’s cooler temperatures, the water was as inviting as ever. It was a reminder of why I fell in love with this place in the first place – the sea here has a way of wrapping you in warmth and serenity.

We ended up spending far longer at the beach than we had originally planned, and it was all in the water! The pure joy of swimming and playing in those familiar waves, feeling the gentle resistance as we swam back toward the shore, was exactly what I needed. The sea here is amazing – you can swim and still feel safe in its embrace. I especially love how you have to walk out endlessly until you reach the swimming depth. One of my favorite pastimes is floating and letting the sea gently carry me back to shore, a simple pleasure that never fails to soothe and refresh.

There’s something incredibly grounding about returning to your roots, especially when you get to experience the simple joys that made your hometown so special in the first place. Until my next swim in these wonderful waters, I’ll be holding onto the memories of this lovely return to Salacgriva.

So grateful for Day 1,

Ilze
