Day 2 in Salacgriva was all about relaxation and family time. We started the day with a leisurely late breakfast, enjoying a relaxed pace as everyone woke up at their own speed. It felt like a luxury to sleep in without the usual rush of everyday life.
Our home for the stay was a charming family apartment that we rented in Salacgriva. The space was perfect for us, offering both comfort and convenience.

The afternoon was spent in pure leisure, making the most of our temporary home. As the day softened into evening, my brother—who is also Nelle’s godfather—and his family visited us. We spent the night chatting in the garden, catching up on life and enjoying each other’s company, despite the wind that started to pick up. The setting sun cast a warm glow over the space, making it the perfect backdrop for relaxed conversations and shared laughter. We enjoyed good food, great company, and the tranquil ambiance of the garden—a perfect way to end a perfect day.
Salacgriva, with its inviting charm and peaceful atmosphere, continues to be a wonderful place for family bonding and relaxation. Looking forward to sharing more about our adventures as the days unfold!
I’m all about leisure, when it comes to traveling,
Ilze

Glad you had a relaxing time with the family. Looks a lovely place, I haven’t been to that part of Latvia.

That’s the northern region, where I’m from. People tend to swallow the endings of their words and might seem a bit grumpy at first. 😊 But if you stay a little longer, you’ll find they’re actually caring and often quite friendly. Where have you been? And will you come again?

I will definitely visit Latvia again, next year if I can. I visited Riga of course, Madona, Tukums, Kuldiga, Kolka and Gauja national park. Family has a house near to Jurmala which I have visited every time when in Latvia.

It seems to me, that you visited the best part of Latvia. Near Jurmala is also Ķemeri, I really like the place, my friend lives there.

My relatives summer house is near Apsuciems, I really like the beach and woods around there, not far away is Engures ezers, which I believe in autumn/winter is fantastic for bird watching.

Yes, I remember spending 3 days in Engures ezers. In the floating house 🙂

Thank you, Peggy! It was a truly relaxing day for us. Salacgrīva has this calm vibe that makes you want to slow down and just enjoy the moment. I couldn’t help but think about your travel stories —so many places to explore and soak in the beauty. Have you ever been to Latvia? I’d love to hear if you’ve had similar cozy days during your travels!
