This weekend, we escaped to our unfinished house, arriving on Friday just as the colder evenings set in. The house felt cozy and inviting. This was due to the warmth of our newly started central heating. The soft glow of candles also added to the coziness. Marley, our ever-loyal cat who lives there full-time, joined us indoors but still ventured out for his nightly hunts.

The old and wise oak tree, standing strong and protected. It looks small in the picture, doesn’t it?

The girls took charge of dinner and snacks, filling the house with laughter and delicious smells. We danced along to the “Nintendo Switch Dance” and ended the night watching our family favorite, Gravity Falls. It’s these small moments of joy that remind us why we love spending time here.
Saturday brought gloomy skies and rain, but it didn’t dampen our spirits. We worked on the house, continuing with the ventilation system and pre-insulation tasks. The girls made sweet snacks. I cooked a chicken in the air fryer. It was the perfect comfort food for a rainy day.
When it was time to leave, none of us wanted to return to the city. This house is quickly becoming our little slice of heaven.
