Yesterday, we ventured into the forest to gather pine cones and fallen branches for our Advent composition. We always make sure to take only what nature has already given—nothing from the trees. Thankfully, we found everything we needed, but there was a strange surprise along the way: a shoe and a skull hanging in a tree! Who on earth would leave that there?
Before heading out, we made a quick stop at the vending machine for some hot chocolate—such a treat for the kids! 😄

Despite the odd find, we headed home with our treasures and a funny story to tell. It’s moments like these that make walks in the forest so unpredictable. Have you ever found something strange on a walk? Let me know!
Until next time,
Ilze

What a fun outing, complete with hot cocoa! I don’t walk in the forest but Miss Emma and I find many interesting items on our walks in the city park, lol.

I agree, city parks are full of interesting things to discover. I find forests are more about the natural beauty – with few surprises. City parks have more surprises to offer!

Wow, that shoe has been there a very long time! I’m guessing the skull is a deer skull. Walking my folks’ property in Michigan it was fairly common to find deer skulls and other deer bones.

Yes, it’s fascinating how the fabric is covered in moss, but the rubber sole is still holding up! Nature really has a way of reclaiming everything except for the most durable materials. I’m guessing it’s deer, yes… at least not HUMAN! 🙂

Not hooman for sure! That rubber or what ever it is may still be there 2000 years from now…

Unfortunately (about the rubber, not the skull). 😊

Yeah, we humans leave our rubbish everywhere we go, even on the moon and Mars!

It’s so true—it’s both fascinating and a little sad how our footprint follows us even into space. Hopefully, as we continue exploring, we’ll learn to do better and keep those incredible places as pristine as possible! 🌍🌙🚀

I have never been a fan of humans going to mars, Ilze, it serves no purpose. It is a dead world. Millions of dollars wasted…
