Back Home: Cold but Hopeful

We’re back from Riga, returning from my work party, and the house greets us with a chilly 15°C. It’s not freezing, but it’s far from cozy. Still, I’m impressed—the house without heating dropped only 6°C in two days, even with the outside temperature at 5°C.

The compressor has been fixed, which is a relief, but it still needs to be installed and tested to see if it works.

There’s a part of me that feels doubtful. Maybe it’s the pessimist in me, or perhaps it’s just experience whispering caution. Some would say I should be more optimistic, but I find it hard to celebrate until everything is truly in place and running as it should.

For now, I’ll focus on warming up the house and the kids while tackling the next steps. A warm home and a working system are within reach—at least, I hope so.

  1. One day you’ll look back on this and find all kinds of interesting and even funny stories to tell about it. Building/renovating/restoring a house is a great adventure, and all these twists and turns are part of the journey.

    1. Thank you for the encouragement! You’re so right—every challenge and unexpected twist becomes part of the story we’ll look back on with laughter (hopefully!) someday. Renovating this house has truly been an adventure and all the lessons and memories we’re creating along the way.

    1. Jānis is working on connecting the compressor – and I’m snuggled in the blankets with the kids, watching movies 🙂 The party was exactly what I needed. Check my reply to your previous comment.
