A Small Town Miracle

Just when we thought we’d hit another bump in the road, life surprised us. The heating system was nearly ready, but a tiny rubber O-ring—something so simple, costing just about 1 euro—was damaged. Of course, it’s the weekend, the holidays, and all the repair shops are closed! The thought of waiting until Monday loomed heavy, especially with freezing weather predicted to arrive any day now. Could we really risk our house being left defenseless against the cold?

But living in a small town has its perks. Since we’ve been renovating the house and buying nearly everything locally, the shop owners know us well. One phone call was all it took. No explanation was needed—they opened the entire shop just for us to get that one little O-ring. At 8 PM on a Saturday, when the shop wouldn’t normally open until Monday!

With that tiny but essential part in hand, the heating system roared back to life. Check the happy snowman 🙂

As I write this, the house is warming up, and I’m sitting here in happy tears. Moments like these remind me of the power of community and the kindness of people who go out of their way to help.

Here’s to small victories, big hearts, and warm homes!
