Winter is Here, Snow is Here! Where is The Sun!?

Winter has arrived in Latvia! A few days ago, the temperature dropped, and snow started falling. It’s been here for five days now, and everything is covered in a beautiful white blanket. The world feels quieter and more peaceful, and I’m enjoying the crisp, fresh air. Crisp means there should be sun soon!

The kids are having fun playing in the snow. This year, they only had one chance to go sledding before the snow melted, but now it’s staying, and everyone can enjoy it.

I hope the sun will come out soon!

  1. Looks lovely, never been to Latvia in the winter. My mum said they always had lots of snow, that’s when they had the horse drawn sleigh for going to school. For some reason I don’t seem to be getting your blog posts in the WordPress reader, have set up for email notifications which seems to be working ok, but this post is not in my reader ? probably me.

    1. That sounds like such a magical memory—going to school in a horse-drawn sleigh! I bet the school was more than 3km away! Latvia can still get a lot of snow, but this year it is “grey, sad, and rainy”.

And you’re not alone—WordPress sometimes acts strange for me too! I also don’t always see posts in the Reader, and some people can comment on my posts while others can’t. It’s a mystery! Glad the email notifications are working, though! 😊

        1. That must have been quite an experience for them, being away from home during the week. Did they ever share any stories about their time there? Sometimes, I think I need to put my kids in a boarding school cause they are always on the phones! No different where they are – home or away from home. 🙂 Today we had a lovely time and were outside for 2 hours!

          1. She didn’t say too much about the school, mainly that they were taught really well, including music and arts, but they really liked going back home to the farm at weekends.
Really dull, grey and chilly here in my part of the UK today. The homeless cats have been in the garden all day, and are hungry, so I’ve been in and out giving them food.

            1. Homeless cats are usually quite wild! Do they have a snapped ear? I used to think it was cruel, but it’s actually a way to mark that they’ve been sterilized and won’t have more kittens. If you catch one and take it to the vet, this is the only way to know for sure if it’s already been fixed before cutting it open again.

              1. All are sterilised, I contacted Cats Protection UK (they are so good) and between us we got them sorted out, snipped ear. I would take them all in if it wasn’t for the cost of veterinary services, most of the vets are now owned by Hedge fund companies and they only have one interest. I feed them all 3 times a day, more in the cold weather.

                1. That’s amazing that you got them all sterilized and are taking such good care of them! It’s heartbreaking how expensive vet care has become, especially with big companies prioritizing profit over animals’ well-being. Those cats are lucky to have you looking out for them, especially in the colder months. 💕

    1. Aww, you found the Latvian flag! People often mistake it for Austria’s. You just need the right fabric—just like with the weather! There’s no bad weather, only inappropriate clothing.
