After a recent snowfall, kids cleared the snow off our solar panels, and the difference was amazing! Before cleaning, the panels were barely producing 1 kW, but after removing the snow, the output jumped to 3 kW. It was a clear reminder of how much snow can block energy production on a sunny day.

If you have solar panels in a snowy area, a quick snow clearing can really boost their efficiency and help maximize energy production.
Have you tried this with your panels? I’d love to hear your results!

We have solar panels but not much snow but the difference in how much comes in in winter compared to summer is amazing

Yes, here definitely is the difference between Winter and Summer. Do you have an on-grid or off-grid system?

Its not a fully blown system. We wanted to renovate an old house but our health deteriorated. As long as we wanted to renovate and now until we move we lived in a mobile home with one of these mobile backup batteries & 4 solar pannels which is ok for our needs. Its an ecoflow battery

We can relate! We lived in a mobile home for one summer while renovating, but staying there in winter wasn’t an option—otherwise, we would have. It’s great that your setup works for your needs! We also rely on solar power, though our system isn’t fully off-grid either. Renovating an old house is a huge challenge, especially when health gets in the way. Wishing you all the best with your journey!

I have never owned solar panels but they are a decent source of renewable energy of course. Once in a long while, people solicit me to buy the system which I never will. A neighbor across the street had them installed about three years ago and saw no benefit at all from them. I’ll stay on the grid which is powered by our beautiful Hoover Dam. Hydro electricity!

Well, we received a subsidy, and since we have a geothermal heat pump (and winter 🙂 ), our solar panels will pay for themselves in just three years. Imagine that 🙂
