A few weeks ago, I decided it was finally time to sew some radishes. It wasn’t a big, planned-out gardening moment—more like a spontaneous little joy. I looked at one of our circular raised beds and thought, “Why not make it a bit more fun?”
So instead of planting in straight rows, I made a spiral. A simple swirl starting from the middle, gently winding outward. It felt like drawing on the earth with seeds.
We sewed the radishes one by one, carefully pressing each seed into the soil. Then we took a small rake and gently patted everything down, making sure the soil hugged them in place. It was one of those small, quiet tasks that unexpectedly fills you with calm and delight.

And now, a few weeks later… they’re coming up! Tiny green sprouts breaking through the soil, curving in that same little spiral we made. It’s a small thing, but watching life emerge like that never gets old.

Can’t wait to taste the season’s first crunchy, peppery radish. But I’ll have to wait…few more weeks I bet 🙂

I’ve never cared for radishes but what a fun way to plant!
Thank you! Well, there is one Latvian cold soup recipe that requires radishes 🙂 I hope they don’t turn out too strong in flavor.
Ton of fun!
Thank you, Happy Easter!
Happy Easter to you!
Happy Easter to you too!
Swirly Radishes! I do enjoy them but haven’t purchased any in a very long time. 🤔
Grow them in a pot! 🙂
Pot… heh… 😉
..or pot in pot 🙂
Indeed! 🫖
I like this! The pot will soon look full and beautiful, like a bouquet.
Oh, Mary! I never thought of that! You are right! I thought maybe I need to seed lettuce in between, but radish leaves will turn this all into a bouquet soon 🙂 (I hope so… now it’s cold and snowing – https://latvianmom.com/2025/04/26/snow-outside-cucumbers-inside/
