This Easter weekend was just what I needed—family, fresh air, and a little bit of progress in the garden. My mom and my brother came over with his family, and we had a lovely time together. The kids were so excited for the Easter egg hunt, running around the yard, finding little surprises hidden among the trees and garden beds. It’s always fun to see their joy—those wide smiles and playful shouts make it all worth it.

Later in the day, we worked on my no-dig kitchen garden. It’s slowly coming together—layering mulch, garden soil, dreaming of all the vegetables, leafy greens that will grow there soon. There’s something peaceful about working with the earth like this, especially after a long, busy week.

Jānis and I also tackled a pile of branches that had been waiting since winter. We turned them into mulch, which I’ll use in the garden beds. I love that nothing goes to waste—it feels good to reuse what nature gives us.
All in all, it was a sweet day—family gathered, hands in the soil, and a small step closer to this year’s harvest.
