One of the most satisfying experiments I tried this year was winter sowing—and I’m happy to report that some of those little seedlings are now thriving in the garden!
Back in the colder months, I sowed several types of seeds outdoors in containers, letting nature do its thing. I wasn’t sure how many would make it, but I’m amazed by the calendula. They’ve turned into strong, beautiful plants, and I’ve now planted them out around the tomatoes.
They look so healthy—sturdy. The scent is subtle but absolutely lovely, a soft herbal fragrance that lingers when you pass by. I didn’t expect to succeed with this. I’m curious to see how they do next to the tomatoes—maybe they’ll be good companions. Either way, they’re already winning me over with their resilience and charm.

Winter sowing felt like a bit of a gamble, but seeing the results now, I’m glad I gave it a try. Nature really does know best.
Can’t wait for them to bloom!

I can’t wait! The weather this year is just TERRIBLE! RAIN! It’s raining like in the UK in winter… and cold! Seeds aren’t happy outside!

It feels like we are living in UK! Rain! All the time! There hasn’t been a sunny day for a while now! The garden is soaking wet! I planted calendula around tomatoes – both don’t like the weather!
