It’s been raining non-stop lately, and of course, we’re trying to get the yard ready for Nelle’s party. Not ideal timing, right? The grass has been growing wild, and the ground is still bumpy since this is our first year mowing it.
Today, though, we got lucky — no rain! It’s a bit cloudy, but I grabbed the chance to finally get outside and mow a piece of it all (yes, pun intended 😅). We had to cut around 0.44 hectares, which for those in different corners of the world is: 1.1 acres (USA/UK), 4,400 square meters, 47,361 square feet. That’s a lot of grass to tame with just a push lawnmower and trimmer.
It honestly felt like a full workout. While I did that, Jānis got covered in grass by trimming around the bushes, trees, and raised beds. He used a grass trimmer. I hate to use that!
My arms are tingling, my face is beet red, and I’m sweating like crazy — no need for the gym today! This is definitely my kind of cardio. Look at my face!
Wish us luck as we keep preparing — rain or shine, the party is happening! 🎉🌿
Also, I need to start working on the menu! So I can create a shopping list! The party will be for 25 people.

Oh my goodness, what a lot of work, Ilze! What a mother won’t do for her children. I’m sure it will all fall into place and be an amazing day for her 🙂

With the weather so crazy, you might want a backup plan if you don’t already have one. You got a good workout, at least you didn’t have to go to the dreaded gym.
