Few nights ago, something magical happened. I was just about to wind down when I glanced outside and saw the moon — but not just any moon. It was wrapped in a delicate veil of clouds. “Go, capture it!”
Without thinking twice, I grabbed my camera and ran outside. I spent way too much time waiting for the moon to come outside the clouds again. Time slipped away. Before I knew it, the clock read 4 AM.

Was it a good idea? Probably not.
The next day I had to work. I was a walking zombie. So, I did the only sensible thing — I skipped the Zoom meeting and took a nap.
Would I do it again? Absolutely.
Sometimes, the best moments come from following a sudden whim, even if it means a bit of exhaustion the next day. The moon didn’t wait for anyone — and neither did I.

You’re so kind, John — thank you! Do you enjoy night photography? What’s your favourite late‑night scene to capture?

My night photos are not good… 😂

Why? Don’t have a tripod? I bet you might get pretty nice ones from outside Las Vegas with LV lights in the background!

That involves going out at night which I never do. I’ve been using Aperture mode a lot recently which might be good for night work but I’m involved inside with the boob tube at night anyway. 🤭😬

Why not go out at night? Find the others that would like to do that and go and do it 🙂 …
… and seriously – my English isn’t that good – what the hell is “boob tube” – internet says it’s TV!

Yep, TV! 😂 I don’t like driving at night when there are more nutters on the roads here.

Thank you, Neal — I’m so glad it resonated. Have you ever taken a spontaneous trip just because something magical caught your eye?

Well worth the experience and stepping out of your comfort zone can be good.

Absolutely — and sometimes that leap outside the comfort zone is where life surprises us. What’s one time you stepped out and discovered something beautiful?

I had only been divorced 3 yrs. when I met my husband, I had no plans for a long-term relationship let alone marriage. I let the relationship flow naturally and we’ve been married 23 yrs. 🙂

Yes, totally! It makes me wonder — what adventure would you follow, even if it meant paying for it the next day?

The older I get the more the importance of the small ‘my’ decisions becomes apparent. You and a ‘special’ moon had a date you enjoyed and remember. One of life’s riches . . . all yours!

Such beautiful words, Eha — thank you. What small “my decision” has turned into a memory you still cherish?

That’s a meaningful realization, Mary. I’m curious — what small act of self-care have you started practicing lately because you’re honoring your needs more?

Everything in moderation–food, activity, electronics. I say no to invitations and no longer feel I have to go.

Well, struggle with sleep… I don’t know why.

I think the moment you watch the moon glow at its highest is worthwhile. Glad you took a nap. Its okay to absent at work sometimes. Life happens.

Thank you, Hazel — exactly. I’ve come to believe rest is part of respect for living fully. Do you have a go-to self-care reset after a long stretch?

It’s either I nap or go to nature. That’s my reset.
My pleasure, Ilze. Enjoy your day!

Yes indeed — those clouds gave the image character and mood! Do you find clouds enhance your favourite photos too?

Yes – I rarely photograph skies or moons without them

I’m learning. I don’t like pictures with views and huge moons… they are fake.
