This past weekend was meant to be all about Gulbene’s birthday celebrations – the plan was simple: my brother and his family would come over, we’d all head out to enjoy the city festivities, and end the evening with a concert under the stars. But as life tends to do, plans shifted, and honestly… I’m so glad they did.
Instead of chasing the crowd, we ended up having a lovely, relaxed time at home. The kids ran around, laughter filled the rooms, and we managed to squeeze in a spontaneous visit to the local “yard sale” – and that turned out to be one of the highlights of the day!
We found such lovely little treasures, the kind that feel like they were waiting just for us. You know that feeling when something secondhand fits into your life like it always belonged? That kind of magic.

But the best moment? Watching Ilona get completely starry-eyed over a beast of a machine – a BMW motorcycle that had all the charisma in the world. She couldn’t stop admiring it! Who knew a yard sale could offer vintage teacups and motorcycle daydreams in one go?

So no, we didn’t make it to the concert. But we shared stories, hunted for treasures, laughed until our stomachs hurt, and soaked in the joy of simply being together. And honestly, that might be better than any festival.
Until next time,
Ilze
