As expected, we had a lovely time the night before. Jānis had his special moments with Oto, and I enjoyed the conversations around me.

The next day was all about getting ready for our 15th wedding anniversary celebration. We started with lunch at our house, followed by cake, and then continued at Jānis’s parents’ place, where the sauna was waiting.

It felt so symbolic because our wedding had taken place right there — in Jānis’s parents’ countryside. Back then, the celebration was held in the barn, while the ceremony itself took place on top of the hill. Now, that same hill has a watchtower, built so people can climb up and enjoy the wide views of nature and watch birds.

And I have to mention this huge lily! Honestly, I’ve never seen one like it. I asked Ilona — who loves lilies and would be thrilled to have such a beauty in her garden (her face said it all!) — to climb up there for a reference photo. 🙂

I have to admit, I’m still too scared to climb up there… but my mom was brave enough to go, and she loved it. 🙂

Thank you! That lily looks absolutely wild… way too tall! The previous ones (the bulbs) were eaten by muskrats or something similar. But this one I planted right by the cellar wall — concrete all around with about 50 cm of soil on top — so nothing could get to it. 😊 The only one that survived, and it gave us such a wonderful surprise!
