A Hot September Day and Pizza Night

Today felt unusual for September — the thermometer showed +28°C, and the heat weighed heavily on me. My back hurt, and I couldn’t quite figure out why. I decided to take a short walk, hoping the fresh air would help, but instead, I ran into thick smoke from someone burning woodchips and branches right next to the road. The air was heavy, and it made me feel even more unwell.

So tonight, we’re keeping things simple. It’s going to be a pizza night!

Sometimes, after a day that drains you, there’s nothing better than gathering around the table, sharing slices, and letting the comfort of warm, homemade pizza make the evening feel better than the day that came before.

  1. Wonderful you make your own pizzas – healthy, tasty, fresh from your own oven > kudos!! 28 C is high for a Latvian September day – please, do not laugh: here the actual temp would be called ‘warmish’ 🙂 !

    1. Warmish!!!!! Come on! I have neighbors who are from Australia. The kids walk in rubber boots the whole summer… There is nothing to be afraid of here 🙂 One snake… rare! And this rainy summer was ok to them, I was shocked! How cold and rainy a summer is ok to Australians!!!!?!??!

      1. Ilze – Australia is a continent as you know, not just a country, so the variations are as huge as N Europe to the south. I live 100 km south of Sydney and 40 kms inland. Roughly mid-winter 2 C – 19 C but hugely variable, summer say 18 C – 32-34 C oft going into the forty plus. Our best known poet writes about rain here as ‘droughts and flooding rains’ (!) – it is never a drizzle or soft rain > either nothing or it pours. But that is where I live!
