Some photos are special not because they are perfect, but because they capture a moment that can never happen again.
Recently, some relatives spent time going through old slides and photographs. I can only imagine how many boxes, memories, and tiny pieces of family history they sorted through. And among all those slides, they found something wonderful.
A photograph of me and my brother standing under a chestnut tree.

I couldn’t believe it when I saw it! I don’t have pictures form my childhood! Look at my hair style! Or outfit! LOVE IT!
The photo instantly transported me back to a time I can barely remember. A time when life was simple, summers felt endless, and we spent our days outside without a care in the world.
It reminds me how valuable old photographs are. Not because they are technically perfect, but because they preserve moments that would otherwise disappear with time.
I feel incredibly lucky that my cousin cared enough to save those slides all these years—and lucky that they found this photo of two children standing beneath a chestnut tree.
Sometimes the greatest treasures are hiding in dusty boxes, waiting to be discovered.

What a lovely surprise, and such great photos! You look exactly like all the little girls I envied when I was small – blonde, blue-eyed and pink cheeks. My hair was brown, my eyes were brown, and I had freckles (also brown) – very boring, no pretty colours! And how I coveted their long yellow plaits! One of my friends could actually sit on her hair! These photos make very precious keepsakes.
A blessing! Great photo, Ilze, I wish I could remember more of my childhood. Not many photos.
Am SO happy these were found . . . nanoseconds in your life proven even if you cannot quite remember . . . but you can see you were loving the moments . . .
