This morning, I stepped outside with one simple goal — to see what food I could find in the garden.
To my delight, there was plenty.
I picked fresh rocket, radishes, dill, spring onions, and salad leaves for breakfast. There is something incredibly satisfying about gathering food just a few steps from the kitchen. It doesn’t get much fresher than that.

I also cut some rhubarb for my favourite rhubarb pie. Every year I look forward to rhubarb season, and today felt like the perfect excuse to bake. And I picked some lemon balm and catnip (catmint) for the tea.

The rest of the day was spent celebrating Nelle’s birthday. We had a lovely time together, but now I’m sitting in my chair, feeling pleasantly tired while writing this blog post.
Nelle and her friends are spending the night at Grandma’s place. Later this evening they’ll enjoy the hot tub and sauna, and no doubt stay up far too late talking and laughing.

We spent part of the day together, but eventually I left so the girls could have some time on their own. They are fourteen now, after all.
