Sushi, Storm Clouds, and a Stork

Yesterday evening, Jānis and I declared it a sushi night. No special occasion. Just one of those evenings when neither of us felt like cooking, and sushi sounded like exactly the right idea. Sometimes the simplest plans turn into the nicest memories.

After dinner, we went for a walk. The weather couldn’t quite decide what it wanted to do. On one side of us, the sky was dark gray, heavy with rain that seemed ready to fall at any moment. On the other side, the clouds were glowing with bright evening light, almost as if the sun had found a tiny opening just for us.

And then there was the stork. Of course there was a stork. At this time of year, they’re impossible to miss around here. Slowly walking through the fields with that calm confidence only storks seem to have, carefully searching for dinner. They never appear to be in a hurry, yet somehow they always seem to know exactly where to look.
I could watch them for hours.

What’s one quiet moment from your week that made you pause and smile?

  1. Maybe the stork being there means you are going to add a family member, Illze. I couldn’t eat that dinner.

    1. Ha ha ha! I’m past that! 🙂 no more additions to the family! But YES that is what we say here in Latvia as well 🙂
