Sometimes a blog post doesn’t need a big story.
Today, it’s simply me in my new dress, wandering around the garden.
The dress made me feel happy the moment I put it on. It’s comfortable, feminine, and perfect for a warm summer day. The kind of dress that makes you want to slow down, stroll through the garden, and enjoy everything that’s growing around you. And that is exactly what I did 🙂

As for the garden… well, I know that for some people it would be a bit of a joke. There are no perfectly clipped hedges, no expensive landscaping, and no team of gardeners keeping everything picture-perfect.
But every flower bed, every path, every little corner has been created by my own hands.
I’m not paying someone else to build my garden, and I don’t plan to. For me, that’s part of the joy. It grows slowly, just like everything worthwhile. Some plants thrive, others don’t. I make mistakes, I move things around, I learn something new every season, and little by little it becomes more beautiful.
You have to start somewhere.
And honestly… I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Beautiful dress, garden and photos. I love the first photo…it shows pure joy. Have a great day.
Thank you! I love small things, it helps a lot when “big” things “isn’t working”. And then turns out that small things are “bigger / important ” than big things 🙂
Big things come along only once in a blue moon and then they may disappoint! Small things happen all the time if you only know how to notice and enjoy! The dress is very feminine and you should be hugely proud of how your plants want to grow and please you!
Thank you! I have problem with that but I’m learning and taking you all in this journey with me 🙂 (sorry, not sorry) 🙂
We’ll walk along and talk our heads off . . . and the ‘bad’ will get bored, shrug its shoulders and go bug someone else . . .
Oh, this is good!!!!!! Love it! I will write it down 🙂
Amen to all you just said! This is true perfection.
Thank you, Maria!
Keep enjoying summer. Your blog and your garden is wonderful Ilze.
Thank you, Maria! I love your garden, especially the small table and two chairs! I wish we could meet there and chat 😀
Such a perfect reminder. The hurdles we see as obstacles are often just reminding us that we’re still trying, still reaching. You are a miracle, that’s not something to achieve or prove. It’s something to let unfold. Beautiful truth, Erika. 🌟
Thank you, Erika! Such a lovely comment!
This is exactly right. The garden you’ve built with your own hands is infinitely more beautiful than anything money could hire someone to create. Every mistake becomes a learning, every adjustment becomes part of the story. And that dress, the joy radiates through every photo. Thank you for the reminder that the best things grow slowly and are never about perfection. 💚
You are welcome – I remind this to myself every day 🙂 Be gentle, trust the process 🙂
Your garden sounds a lot like mine. The little surprises in it make me happy.
🙂 It’s how it suppose to be, right?
YES!
I love the dress, so pretty and comfy looking. And your garden looks just right to me 🙂
Thank you, Jean! I loved your post, I didn’t know you were working shifts! I just thought you are “sitting in garden, writing novels” 😉
How do you find time to write! Not one, not three, not even ten but MULTIPLE books!!??
Thanks, Ilze. Writing takes up the bulk of my time for sure 🙂 I semi-retired back in January, so I work just two shifts a week now. It gives me more time for writing as well as a lot of other things I enjoy 🙂 And sitting in the garden writing novels sounds like a perfect life 🙂
I would love to have two shifts a week 😀 (not sure how long is the shift). I’m having 4 workday week but I would make it 3 or even 2, but I’m not allowed 🙂
Sounds like a good approach to gardening to me, and that dress suits you, Ilze xx
Your garden is abundant and beautiful, like you, Ilze.
Thank you 🙂
