Sushi Night

There are times when we make sushi at home… and then there are times when I simply say: “Let’s order sushi.”

Living in the countryside means food delivery is almost nonexistent here. No delivery apps, no endless restaurant choices, no late-night cravings magically appearing at our door. So whenever our local bistro announces sushi offers, we immediately pay attention — because they are pretty much the only place willing to deliver all the way out to us.

And when they have a 2+1 offer? Oh, we definitely take advantage of it. 😄

This time Linna’s friend was spending the day with us, so ordering sushi felt like the perfect idea. We ordered what looked like an enormous amount of sushi rolls.

At least… that’s what I thought.

Because somehow, despite the mountain of sushi, it disappeared incredibly fast. Apparently it was not plenty after all. 😂

And honestly? Out here in the countryside, getting sushi delivered still feels a little magical every single time.

Do you like sushi!?

  1. Love sushi. Living even further out than you don’t have anywhere to order at the moment. Boo-hoo! Yours look great – and I can see them disappearing with six t the table 🙂 ! Oh – absolutely love the colour of your dining room walls . . .

    1. Thank you! 😊 Yes, with six people around the table the sushi disappeared much faster than I expected. 😂 And thank you so much about the dining room walls — I worried about the colour at first, but now I really love how cozy it feels. What was your favourite food to prepare?

    1. We really are lucky! 😊 Living out here makes every delivery feel like a special event. Do you order takeaway often where you live?

    1. You should try it at least once someday! 😊 There are so many different kinds now — some are cooked, some vegetarian, and some don’t taste “fishy” at all. What kind of food do you usually enjoy most?

    1. Sushi definitely seems to be one of those foods people either love or hate. I think the first sushi I tried years ago felt very strange too. Was it the raw fish part you didn’t like, or the seaweed? I grew up eating raw (lightly salted) salmon! Loved it!

    1. Marinētas siļķes un sālīts lasis ir tas ko ēdu vēl joprojām 😊 Man liekas, ka tas ir daudz tuvāk mūsu tradicionālajām garšām nekā suši. Vai tu vēl gatavo zivis mājās? Man patīk sālīt lasi, tad es to varu ēst cik ātri gribu – viegli sālīts ir parasti tas, ko izvēlos es 🙂

    1. You are not alone — apparently quite a few people in the comments have never tried sushi 😊 Would you ever be curious to taste it, or does it simply not appeal to you?

    1. It really was! 😊 Sushi evenings always feel a little festive here. What is your favourite kind of sushi?
