I Couldn’t Resist

Some evenings are simply too beautiful to let slip away unnoticed.

This sunset was one of those moments. The sky was painted with soft colours, the clouds catching the last light of the day, and everything seemed to slow down for a little while. I stood there looking at it, knowing that a single photo wouldn’t be enough.

So I did what I rarely do — I made a panorama.

I couldn’t resist trying to capture the whole scene. Of course, a photograph never quite manages to hold the feeling of being there. It can’t capture the cool evening air, the quietness, or the way the colours seemed to change from one minute to the next. But at least the panorama helps preserve a little more of the memory.

Sometimes I think we take photos not because they perfectly capture a moment, but because we don’t want to forget how that moment made us feel.

This sunset was worth remembering.

  1. Oh, my! What a gorgeous sunset. The photos are amazing; I love the photo of you, your husband and cat. Such a peaceful, loving capture. You live in a beautiful place

  2. Excellent sunset photos, Ilze! More photos, please? The photo of you and Janis is very sweet. You two have a lovely estate! 😎☺️

    1. We have a plot of land and an old house, and we’re slowly turning it into a home. There’s still so much to do, and some days it feels a bit overwhelming. We keep the grass cut and try to keep everything tidy, but there are trees to plant, flower beds to create, and countless little projects waiting for attention. It’s a work in progress, a little messy at times, but every season it becomes a bit more beautiful. One day, I hope it will be exactly the kind of place we’ve been dreaming about. And with the sunsets so spectacular – I bet it will be!

  3. A beautiful sunset for us to see . . . a wondrous photo for you to hold forever more . . .

  4. I can see why you wanted to capture the sunset, it’s glorious! Your property is stunning too!

    1. Thank you, Stephanie. Girls were running around and having fun. So we enjoyed the time together in our unfinished garden 🙂
