It’s monday morning. My inbox is full, my task list is long, and I’m wondering how I’ll get everything done.
But that’s a problem for one task at a time.
I want to share something much more impressive than my workload.
A few days ago, just before a thunderstorm arrived, I looked up and saw the most incredible cloud formation. The sky seemed to be folding in on itself, layer upon layer, like a giant wave moving across the countryside.
I’ve seen many storms over the years, but I don’t remember ever seeing anything quite like this.

There was something both beautiful and intimidating about it. The trees were already bending in the wind, and you could feel the change in the air. The storm was coming, and nature wasn’t trying to keep it a secret.
Sometimes we spend so much time looking at screens, schedules, and unfinished projects that we forget to look up. Then nature decides to put on a show, and suddenly everything else feels a little less important.
The thunderstorm came and went.
The work is still waiting for me.
But so is the memory of this extraordinary sky.

I do not know whether it is the fact I was a war-time child who was part of so many frightening things but I’m most uncomfortable with the anger nature can show! One does not know whether damage will ensue and danger erupt. Don’t like thunderstorms – would not have liked to have been there when that rolling cloud evolved and neared. Glad it caused no damage down below! As far as your pile of work is concerned . . . you will get it done . . . with you being so prompt, sooner rather than later, some will go, a new lot will come . . . bestest for that too . . .
Thank you, Eha!
I used to feel the same way about thunderstorms. Here in Latvia, something serious only happens occasionally — a roof might be damaged by strong winds, or lightning might strike a tree or a house.
When we first moved to the countryside 12 years ago, I was quite afraid of storms. But then I looked at my children and realized I didn’t want to pass that fear on to them. Over time, I changed the way I thought about it.
Now, I have a deep respect for the power of nature. When you realize how small we are compared to something so vast, worrying doesn’t really help. There is very little we can do except be sensible, stay safe, and admire the magnificence and raw power of Mother Nature. Sometimes, all you can do is stand in awe of it. 😊
The same about snakes that live around me 🙂 You can scream and jump, but I know they aren’t venomous 🙂 So, why jump 🙂
What wonderful photos of that amazing sky. I have never seen anything like that one. Thank you for sharing. I have faith that you will get your workload all done. Have a wonderful day!
Thank you, Mags, I’m reading this after a long, hot soak in the bath… relaxing. It’s almost 11pm, and I should go to bed, but I want to hang out a bit 🙂
Hope you sleep well tonight.
I hope so too 🙂
