Sixteen years of marriage. ❤️
We had a plan for our anniversary: dress up a little, go out, sit in a restaurant, have a nice dinner, and properly celebrate 16 years together. But it doesn’t feel like me… or Jānis. So why do it?
Instead, we ended up in the forest, hunting for chanterelles.

There is something about being in the forest that makes everything feel a little easier. No restaurant noise, no need to dress up, no expectations. Just walking between the trees, looking down for that little flash of yellow.
Remember, we found skull in the tree? This post:
This one is still there 🙂

So, we ended up cooking at home — pasta with chanterelles in a creamy Parmesan sauce… and dill, of course!

So, happy 16th anniversary to us.
Ilze
P.S. I can’t believe I didn’t take a single picture of the roses Jānis gave me this morning! 😂 You can spot them in the last photo, in the background.

Happy anniversary! Lovely to find all those chanterelles.
Happy Anniversary!
Happy Anniversary, guys! Your walk into the wood had me thinking that perhaps other couples may have done this so long ago, perhaps Medieval days. Romantic!!
Congratulations! I don’t think one can have a better meal then chanterelles in parmesan sauce with spaghetti!
That’s a perfect way to spend an anniversary. I love picking chanterelles. Always such a nice outing. Happy anniversary.
You did it ‘your way’ and enjoyed it! Congratulations and felicitations and may the 17th year be warm and happy 🙂 ! Wish we had chanterelles in the forests here – ha! – we don’t even have forests resembling northern European ones! Can taste your dish, especially the dill I so love . . . bestest
Happy Anniversary!

Happy Anniversary, Ilze. Enjoy the peaceful forest.
We’re not dressing up or going to a restaurant tomorrow for our 46th anniversary.
