Picnic Under the Eclipse

After all the canning was done, we packed the picnic basket and headed to the highest spot around us — a place with a tower rising way above the treetops. We had checked it out a few days earlier, and it looked like nobody ever came there.

Perfect for watching the solar eclipse.

Well… apparently we weren’t the only ones with that idea. 😂

When we arrived, there were already four cars ahead of us! So instead of having the perfect quiet spot to ourselves, we ended up sharing it with around 20–25 people and a few dogs.

Oh well. We found ourselves a little corner, unpacked the picnic, and settled in to watch the sky.

It wasn’t exactly the peaceful, empty lookout we’d imagined — but it was still a pretty great place to watch an eclipse. 🌒❤️

Not sure why I wasn’t prepared to take pictures of the eclipse 🙂 I guess I wanted to enjoy it.

  1. I’m happy that you guys were able to see this event!, Great photos, Illze. The other people wouldn’t bother me but dogs are always an annoyance.

  2. Fantastic you enjoyed . . . even if you could not quite use the word ‘privacy’ 🙂 ! The kids will remember this aberration of nature also . . . another lesson learned . . . and so enjoyably, within the family . . .
