August Days: Pickles, Onions & an Eclipse

Yesterday (and today) was one of those very August days — we made dill pickles and beetroot soup for winter.

And Helmī discovered the ultimate trick for peeling a mountain of onions without crying: swimming goggles! 😂

Honestly, I’m impressed. She looked ridiculous, but she was the only one with dry eyes.

The winter pantry is slowly getting ready! And I love it!

Tonight, though, we have something special planned: watching the solar eclipse!
I hope we can do that, cause it’s a bit cloudy 🙂

August, right?

P.S. My doctor decided to continue my sick leave, so I’m getting a little more time to slow down and find my balance.

  1. Now that was good thinking on a way to peel onions without crying. Enjoy the solar eclipse. Hoping the extended sick leave works well and you are back feeling great very soon. Hugs

  2. Am getting ‘wiser’ and laughing – asked Mr Google before I came to see you whether the solar eclipse could be seen in Latvia and he said yes . . . for over an hour! So, hope you got a glimpse 🙂 ? Hope the extra time off work will be productive . . . and am clapping for the clever onion peeling by Helmi . . . hope you have lots of glass jars ready for all the garden goodies for the colder months . . . enjoy!
