Every autumn, I feel the urge to learn something new. Last year, it was organic chemistry, and before that, herbalism and the healing properties of plants. This year, I’m diving into Japanese Hiragana, drawn to its visual elegance and connection to the language.
For 20 years, autumn meant the start of school, and that rhythm stuck. The cooler weather and changing leaves always spark my curiosity, making me eager to explore more deeply from autumn through spring.
Who knows what next year will bring? For now, I’m excited to master Hiragana and embrace this new challenge!

Hey I can assure you it is going to be a fun journey learning Hiragana and later Katakana and Kanji. I am close to 200 days now and still at it. My best wishes to you.

Are you still using Duolingo? I’ve heard mixed reviews about its effectiveness for learning Japanese. What’s your take on it?

I am doing Udemy lessons too alongwith Duolingo. Duolingo is the fun part. Udemy is serious learning.

Yes! Loved it 🙂 It’s so true… it’s challenging and I can relate to the struggle of memorizing characters 😀

Ah, I think you’re asking if I’ll be able to explain or share some of the Hiragana characters as I learn them! I’d love to—once I get more familiar with them, I might even include a few in future posts. It’s such a beautiful writing system, and I’m excited to dive deeper into it!
