Seeing the World Through Helmī’s eyes

Yesterday’s walk didn’t start off well—Helmī, just 9, was already tired and thirsty after just one kilometer. Then she started crying, desperately wanting to take pictures, all because Linna had done the same an hour earlier when I gave her my old Canon.

Linna brought the camera but quickly got distracted collecting rocks with her friend, so she passed it to Helmī. I switched it to automatic mode, and in no time, Helmī was fully absorbed, capturing the world around her with fresh curiosity.

Watching her dive into photography was pure joy.

What do you think? Doesn’t Latvia look marvelous through Helmī’s eyes? Could we have a budding new photographer for the blog?

        1. Absolutely! I was a bit concerned about the camera too, but she was moving so slowly that everything turned out just fine. 🙂

  1. Helmi takes very beautiful photos, wow! You do indeed have a new photographer for your blog, Ilze! Wonderful. 🙏🏻❤️😊

            1. Good! I’ve changed my sites a lot. Not just names – started a new sits. Somehow I have 6 Instagram accounts. Use only two 😉

              1. I’ve had several blogs over the years, the current blog is the longest running blog I’ve had. I was banned from IG for supposedly breaking community rules – which ones? They never told me which ones.

Prior to this I was banned from making comments for one week or more THREE TIMES. I’ve had enough of the bullying from that platform, no thanks! So ridiculous! Try to control my blog, IG…

                1. On social media, you’re not doing enough if you don’t post regularly, but you’re doing too much if you post three times a day! That’s why I like the idea of Instagram’s approach—it’s a perfect balance. You can use Stories to share glimpses of your daily life, while saving posts for more meaningful content. I love sharing all my pictures in a single post, keeping it neat and organized. The problem is, that Instagram not saying it directly to you or limiting the options, they just ban you!

                  1. That wasn’t the issue, they thought that I was making rotten comments, using bad words and so on. To heck with them, I will not be bullied by a computer and the nutters that own them.

                    1. Did you? I try not to make rotten comments – but I bet because my English isn’t native I might sound grumpy 😀

    1. I have a connection to Estonia 🙂 Helmī is old
Livonian name – that is ancestors of Latvia. It’s not common here, I just wanted to get back to the Livonian roots. The other girls are: Nelle and Linna 🙂 Helmī has the other name as well – Saule – means sun in Latvian…. so Pearl – Sun 🙂
