It’s 9:30PM! Where did the day go?
With my family deciding to come over for Christmas this year, I thought it would be fun to find the perfect dinner set to make our meal extra special. Never mind that the house is still unfinished—there’s heat, water, and a functioning bathroom, and honestly, that’s enough for anyone!

So, I dove into Amazon, thinking it would be easy. Spoiler: It wasn’t. Hours flew by as I scrolled through endless options—classic reds, winter whites, whimsical holiday patterns—but nothing felt quite right. Either the plates weren’t dishwasher-safe, or the shipping times were impossible or the price was … out of this world 🙂
By the end of the day, my cart is full of other stuff (glasses – why?, forks – believe me I have forks!, thermal coffee pot, etc) but still no dinner set. Maybe it’s a sign to use what we already have? After all, the most important thing is having everyone together, not what we eat off of.
Still… I might give it one more look tomorrow. 😉

I hope you find the set you’re looking for.
Thank you, I’m not sure I want to spend money… cause the dining room is all plaster – no wallpaper or any other finish… so maybe I don’t need a nice set. Next year… I have plates packed away… somewhere between 4 places… not sure I want to dig through the boxes….
it sounds like you should use what you have. Just a thought. 😊
Yeah, I guess… but then again 1st Christmas in our first (and only!) house!!!
I wonder if there are business near you that also sell the wares you want?
Not sure! Everything in Latvia seems overpriced… It’s actually cheaper to buy from Europe. Local artists charge €100 per plate—I just can’t justify that. Plus, I enjoy switching up my plates and mixing them for variety!
How is “Christmas going”.
i’ll bet you have everything you need –
…somewhere over the rainbow (in the 100 boxes in 5 places) 🙂
Maybe use the dishes you have but dress up the table in a beautiful tablecloth and napkins with a colorful holiday centerpiece?
Yes! That is something I’m tinking about 🙂 Cause all my plates are in the storage and I don’t know where exactly, it might take too much time to find them! I bet white plates with festive “other stuff” is what I would do…
Perfect choice, Ilze! 😊
I shop the way you do, Ilze! I put a ton of stuff in an Amazon cart, then go back to click save for later the ones I don’t need yet. Sometimes I have more than 50 save for later items! This is a good time to shop with the black Friday discount. You’ll find your Christmas dish set soon.
I found one here in Latvia at a local store! I initially wanted moss green, but I ended up choosing a classic white instead—it’s timeless and goes with everything!
Good to hear that.
