We don’t really celebrate Valentine’s Day, but I won’t say no to flowers from my husband! It’s always nice to receive a little surprise, even on a day we don’t officially mark.

But every year, I find myself wondering—why is Valentine’s Day so focused on men giving gifts to women? Flowers, chocolates, small surprises… it all seems to fall on their shoulders. Why isn’t it the other way around? Or is it, and I just don’t see it as much?
Can you tell me about your experience?
Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day?
Do you think it’s a one-sided tradition?

This day means absolutely nothing to me, Ilze. Three divorces tends to sour the milk a bit… 👎🏻
🙂 “sour the milk” ha ha ha
My mother used to say Don’t Strain Your Milk, meaning when someone is trying to do something that may hurt them. 😂❤️
Good one!
Yep, she was a wonderful mother and human. 🙏🏻❤️
We always exchange cards and a small gift. He did surprise me today with roses.
Lovely!
We don’t really do anything about it, except maybe go out for a meal – not really giving anything out of the ordinary that either of us might give on any day.
Isn’t there another date in the UK to celebrate 12th of January? Or something around that date?
I don’t know 🙂
Beautiful flowers! I don’t really celebrate Valentine’s Day since my divorce, but I do buy myself a bouquet and a latte 🙂
That sounds like a lovely way to treat yourself! A bouquet and a latte are perfect little joys, no matter the occasion.
when in a relationship, I’ve always given something to my man, and I make valentines for friends and family
For friends and family? Do tell more!
I just love to make little cards and notes I care about and still use snail mail to send them
Snail Mail 🙂 Love it! What do you write on/in the cards?
