Moving Out: One Step Closer to Home

The time has come to start clearing out our rental flat. It feels surreal to finally be at this stage—packing up, moving things out, and making space for the next chapter. Our living room in the house isn’t finished yet, but we’re getting closer. Today was a big step forward: we moved the furniture.

Jānis’ dad let us borrow his car to transport everything, which made things so much easier. Bit by bit, our things are making their way home. The sofa is here now, and I missed it. Seeing the flat emptying out is strange, but it also feels like a relief. No more need to pay rent for a flat we haven’t used since October!

Right now, I’m sitting in our not-quite-finished living room, enjoying a plate of Uzbek plov on my green velvet sofa. Even with all the chaos around, this moment feels like a small celebration. We’re getting there.

      1. I sure am, thanks! I need another piece of furniture in my bedroom now that the goofy desk has been taken away, and the office will be an ongoing project which is good. A retiree needs things to do! I am excited for you and your family for your home, Ilze! I look forward to following the process. Have a great new week. ❤️👍🏻😊
