There’s a hill we pass by often, but we’ve never stopped to climb it — until now.
It was a rainy day, the kind that makes everything feel more alive. The kind that slows you down just enough to notice things. On our short drive, we finally decided to stop at that hill and see what’s up there.
Turns out, it’s not just a hill. It’s part of the Struve Geodetic Arc, a UNESCO World Heritage Site! Can you imagine my surprise?! It felt surreal to be standing on a point that once helped measure the size and shape of our planet. And we’d driven past it so many times without realizing what it was.

My watch said the climb was about eight flights of stairs. Not bad for a spontaneous stop in the rain. We were damp but happy — the kind of quiet joy you only get when you slow down and notice the world around you.

What a lovely surprise for you. It looks like a beautiful place to walk. 8 flights of stairs, though? My back would be screaming, lol.

Thank you. There were stools – chairs… My legs were hurting, but I didn’t sit down. I’m proud 🙂
