I Skip Walking More Than I’d Like To

I keep skipping my walks. I know I should walk more—I want to walk more! But getting to 10K steps a day feels completely out of reach right now.

Honestly, I wish I could be one of those people who just naturally hit their step goals without even thinking about it. You know the ones. They get their steps in while doing errands, tending to the garden, walking the dog, pacing during phone calls… meanwhile, I’m sitting at my desk for hours, or diving headfirst into house stuff, and before I know it—it’s dinner time and I’ve barely walked at all.

Today, though, I had a morning walk. 🌿
It was warm—not hot. The kind of weather that invites you out. No rain, just a soft breeze and birds chirping. I didn’t walk far, but I did it. And I try—if it’s not raining, I try to get outside. Sometimes it’s just five minutes. Sometimes more. I always feel better after, and yet I still skip it.

Maybe I need to stop aiming for perfection (like 10,000 steps) and just focus on consistency. A short walk is better than no walk. A breath of fresh air is still a breath of fresh air.

Are you getting your walks in lately? Or are you skipping them, too?

    1. Same here! It’s so easy to want to walk more, but life just rushes by. I’m learning to celebrate even the short ones. How are your walks going lately?
