Yesterday was one of those rare days that felt like a gift. The sun finally made an appearance after a month of grey skies and drizzle. I didn’t even realize how much I had missed it until I stepped outside and felt its warmth on my face. And yes—believe it or not—I even got a little bit of a tan!
But what made the day truly special was that I could finally step into the fields. My hands had been itching for it—itching to gather summer’s green and golden treasures. So I grabbed my basket and set off, heart full and eyes scanning the meadows.

Of course, just as I was heading out, my girls looked me up and down and asked, “Why do you look like an old lady?”
Oh geeze… I don’t know—maybe it was the scarf on my head, the long skirts, the worn basket swinging on my arm? Maybe it was the way I looked so excited to collect herbs instead of doing something more “normal.”
But if being called an old lady means I get to wander through sun-warmed fields, breathe in the scent of wildflowers, and come home with a basket full of red clover, daisy, horsetail, lady’s mantle, and meadowsweet… then I’ll happily take the title.

The red clover is already drying, ready to be turned into a soothing tea. The daisies always bring a smile—I can never decide whether to dry them or just enjoy their cheerful presence in a vase for a few days. Horsetail will be used for its mineral-rich benefits, lady’s mantle is one of my favorites for its gentle strength, and meadowsweet… oh, that sweet honey scent is like summer itself.

It feels like the real beginning of summer now that I’ve been able to do this small, old ritual again. Walking through the field, bending down to pick each herb with care—it’s like remembering something I already knew, something deep and quiet.
Today I’m writing this and seeing raindrops on my windows…

Thank you so much! 😊 It was a much-needed little moment just for me. And yes, that dress (actually top and skirt) is my go-to when I want for the sun to kiss my shoulders 🙂

I enjoyed what you wrote about after going out. I love Daisy’s and I bet they are similar to the ones we have here too. They always amaze me how profusely they flower with no care to get them there. Just nature, sunshine and rain and our mother earth to guide them. 😉 🙂 Thank you for sharing.

Thank you! 😊 I agree—it’s amazing how they grow so beautifully on their own. Just sun, rain, and earth, and they bloom like magic. Do you have a favorite spot where you like to see them? Or spot where you enjoy Mother Nature the most?
