Our cat Marley is a sun worshipper, no doubt about it. On any sunny day, you’ll find him stretched out like royalty in the warmest patch of light—on the windowsill, on the floor, on top of laundry, outside, you name it. He doesn’t move much. Just snoozes, purrs, and soaks in the golden rays like a tiny, furry solar panel.

But this Sunday… he crossed a line.
I woke up early, stumbled into the kitchen for a glass of water, and came back to bed, thinking, It’s Sunday—I can sleep a little longer. The morning light was soft, the house was quiet, and I was ready to sink back into the blankets.
Except… my place was taken.
By Marley.

There he was—curled up in my warm spot, washing up like he owned the whole bed. I stood there in disbelief, cup in hand, while he looked at me with that typical cat expression that says, What do you want?
So I didn’t go back to sleep. Instead, I picked up my sketchbook and decided to finally try something that had been on my mind for a while: watercoloring.

Yep. Thanks to Marley, I started a new hobby.
Was it peaceful and creative and actually quite soothing? Yes.
Did I want to try painting something? No.
But here we are.
So, Marley, if you’re reading this—why are you like this? Do I really need a new interest? Can I please have my bed back next time?
Though… to be honest, I kind of liked how the morning turned out.
Do your pets ever “help” you find new hobbies (or steal your favorite spots)?
Tell me your funniest animal story—I’m clearly not the only one being bossed around by a cat!

Methinks Marley is aware exactly how far he can go . . . and he makes a very handsome model ! Unfortunately there are no cats or dogs around me at the moment, but I shall send his photo gallery to two favourite pussies of mine > Mr Molly is French/English and lives in SW France and Bengie is the resident boss on the catamaran sv Anui which seasonally travels up and down the Eastern Australian coast . , , hmm, they both do have similarities with Marley . . oh, I do hope you enjoy your new activity . . .

Oh, I’m sure Marley definitely knows how far he can go—and then adds an extra paw-length just to test me! 😄 I’d love to meet Mr Molly and Bengie—please send them my regards from one spoiled cat to another. A catamaran cat sounds like a whole different level of boss energy! 😺

Cats can always find the sun! And yep, if I get out of bed at night I surrender my spot to Miss Emma. Every time!

Haha, Miss Emma sounds like Marley’s twin in spirit! Why do they always look so innocent while stealing our spots? Have you ever tried gently nudging her aside, or is it just easier to give up and accept defeat?
