A new month begins—and this one feels different already.

August means vacation time for me, and I plan to embrace slow living in its fullest form. I want to rest deeply, create gently, and give time to the things I love the most: watercolor, journaling, being outdoors, and enjoying the simple rhythms of home.
There’s no strict to-do list. Nothing is scheduled or pressed—just the way August should be. ☀️
The only dates marked on the calendar are:
🎉 My brother’s birthday
💍 And… our 15th wedding anniversary ❤️
Everything else can wait. This month is for soft mornings, sketching with no rush, longer walks, savoring cups of tea outside, and letting summer wrap me in its warmth.
Let’s see where August takes us—with open hands and a quiet heart.
Do you have special plans for august?

Happy Anniversary! 15 years is way longer than any of my marriages lasted… 😂

Thank you, John! Your comment made me smile—15 years indeed feels like a wonderful milestone. You should get serious 🙂

Serious as in a relationship? I’ll never marry again, even dating scars me.

Scared for life? Come on! You have nothing to lose. In LV must be a lot of options!

I’m not afraid of life, I am fearful of women. I have a very difficult time trusting women these days after three divorces, but to be fair I certainly made lots of mistakes too. Life is very good as is right now. Female companionship is the one thing I miss so much but…

John, it sounds like you’ve been through a lot, and it’s understandable that trust would be hard after experiences like that. I’m glad to hear life is good for you right now — sometimes that stability is exactly what’s needed before inviting someone new in. I hope that, when the time feels right, the right kind of companionship finds its way to you.

Thank you, Ilze!! I hope that day comes, but I don’t do online dating or go to pubs. This has to happen organically…

Don’t plan! Don’t think ahead! Wake up in the morning, look out of the window, smile and decide what to do just then . , , and when your wedding anniversary rolls around . . , be happy and enjoy . . . today would have been that of my second marriage which was not meant to last, but . . . life happens . . .

Beautiful advice, Eha—thank you. I love the idea of waking up and just deciding in the moment and I think today, on day 6 I finally did that. What’s your favorite way to embrace each day as it comes?

huge grin I wake up, shake myself about, visit the bathroom . . . and decide what is urgent and what I want to do after . . .

Haha, that sounds like a great morning routine — a little shake, a quick check-in with yourself, and then prioritizing the day ahead. Sometimes that moment of calm decision-making is the best way to start! What’s usually the first “urgent” thing on your list?
