The photographs, the tales, and that one of my best friends in Copenhagen (where I used to live) is from Latvia and my dentist as a child was also Latvian 🙂

I follow your blog because I never know what it will be. A post about your lovely family, your gardens, antiques, sewing or renovation projects, or an interesting fact about a country I know very little about, but now feel as if I’ve been there 🙂 I never know what it will be, but I always know it will be good!

I am a 1st generation American with Latvian parents that speaks Latvian. Still have family in Riga and I visited n June and July for 30+ days. I found your blog searching for something. Probably a recipe and decided to follow you. I also enjoy learning about your life, garden, projects etc.

Stories about Riga are always welcomed. My parents last lived in Ventspils where they went to school and were confirmed. Knowing each other but not married until arriving in the US separately many years later. Mom still has a cousin in Ventspils.

Easy to answer as far as I am concerned. Being born and having spent my childhood in Estonia to the north of you was naturally interested when I accidentally picked your name up somewhere. Since then have grown interested in following someone ‘up there’, understand your lifestyle and love being able to ‘share’ it a tad – thank you!!! And I DO like your photography thereof 🙂 !

Well Ilze, I follow a mix of amateur, advanced amateur and pro photographers, who share the same passion for nature, birds, and wildlife photography. If I’m not mistaken, you actually ended up on my site through a photography question yourself. The place where someone lives and what they shoot always gives a glimpse of how nature looks somewhere else – and let’s be honest, Latvia isn’t exactly a top tourist hotspot, which makes it all the more interesting. Marc — thank you, and I appreciate that you take an interest in nature photography. It’s always fun to connect over the places we shoot and the wildlife we find! I’m glad this is not a tourist hotspot 🙂 I love nature, no need for tourists. We dream of having a small flat at the end of the garage for someone to stay over. Meaningful stays, long walks, nature, and warming conversations 🙂 … then they won’t be tourists anymore, but freinds 🙂

But, as I always like to say, I couldn’t do it without a little help from Grammarly. 😊 My talking isn’t that perfect, but I think we still could chat for hours 🙂 Love your photography! First of all, I met you online through our mutual Latvian heritage. After living in Riga, Latvia, with my husband and soulmate for 20 years and he suddenly passing on, I felt I needed to run from the memories, and through my best friend since the 6th grade, I relocated to Florida and an apartment above her. Unfortunately, we had a very short reunion of several years, and she passed on. So you gave me an opportunity to find out what is going on in Latvia and enjoy the happenings of your family. I miss Latvia but no longer have the money to return, so I am now stuck in Florida and glad you can give me a window to look through and remember my days in Latvia.
