a day in the life of a latvian mom

I have a small piece of news to share.

After thinking about it for… well… for 13 years, I finally started a YouTube channel.

At the moment there are only two videos there. One of them is in Latvian, but please don’t let that stop you from visiting anyway. You can still come along, follow the channel, watch, and maybe leave a comment — that would honestly mean a lot. Every little sign that someone is watching feels like quiet encouragement to continue.

Starting something new always feels slightly uncomfortable, slightly exciting, and very imperfect. I decided not to wait for the “perfect moment” anymore (13 years is a long, long, long, long time).

Birthday

This weekend I also celebrated my birthday. 42.. (wrong!) 43… (I can’t believe I was 30 when I wanted to start the YouTube…)
Instead of traditional gifts, I asked for indoor plants or seed packets.

Now I have… a lot of both. 🌿

It feels like future life waiting patiently on windowsills and in paper envelopes. Seeds always carry a promise — even when outside everything still looks frozen and asleep.

Because yes — the garden is still deeply under snow. Around 50 cm (around 20 inches) of it. Weather news promises temperatures above zero soon, but I suspect spring will need time this year. Snow like this doesn’t disappear overnight.

For now, gardening happens mostly in my imagination… and planning.

Sick again!

After the birthday celebrations, I started feeling sick again. Nothing dramatic, just that familiar feeling that my body asks me to slow down, whether I agree or not. I have an appointment with my doctor on March 3rd, so hopefully I will get some clarity. For now…

Until then — tea, rest, and taking things gently. I’m on sick leave.
