Important Life Decisions

A few years ago, we installed the windows in our old house. At the time, it felt like a huge milestone in our renovation journey. The house suddenly looked more complete, more protected from the weather, and a little closer to becoming the home we had imagined.

Now we’re preparing for the next stage: finishing the exterior walls. And, as it turns out, that requires a surprising number of decisions and purchases.

One of those decisions is the outer window sills.

The colours… oh my goodness. None of them work!

This is clearly one of those very important life decisions that will determine the future of our family for generations to come. 😉

In reality, I’m joking. I don’t care that much. But I do need to choose between two colours, and since I’ll be looking at them every day, I might as well make an effort. So.. these two images are for two swatches: UP – the one that isn’t that red, TWO – a bit red.. Do I like any of them.. not sure. You can see them next to the windows.

So now I need your help.

Which one would you suggest? Coment below! UP or DOWN

      1. Oh, my! That is a lot of available colors. That would be overwhelming to me to see all those and try to decide on one. I wish you all the best and hope you love whichever color you finally choose.

        1. Thank you, I forgot to mention that brown would be the color… the shade is the problem. 🙂 If you go to “Home” seciton of my page, you would see the house BEFORE we started, so it was dark wood. We had to get rid of wood parts (they wasn’t good, all mouldy etc) that was naturaly gray/dark brown because of weather… This house is build in 1880 🙂

  1. Am roaring with laughter! We are making it harder for you not easier! I am a forever purist and classicist and ‘don’t draw attention on me’ kind’of gal and for me it would be UP- but you and your family live there 🙂 !

    1. No, it’s all good! I asked for opinion 😉 Did you know classic Latvians? They give advice when it’s not asked… or better – after it’s all done / finished 🙂 So I enjoy space where I can ask for help/opinion on my terms 🙂 Thank you for sharing your opinion! It’s true – we will live here, not you all, but still… this is the part of enjoying the process… that is… more than 3 years and will be more than 3 😀

    1. OH, that is hard question 🙂 You can see how house looked before we started to renovate it in the “Home” section of my homepage. What do you think.

      1. It’s hard to get a good look at the colors from the photo. What are the colors of houses in the area? That would help me start. Does color help heat or cool the house? You can see I’m one of many questions when it comes to big decisions. There’s no way to buy small sample cans of your top choices so you can see the color outside and on a larger space?

          1. I new your were in the county just didn’t know that no other houses were on a road you pass. Try this this, put the color chips away, don’t think about. Later in the day see if one color stands out, or have you eliminated any? It’s not an easy decisions for sure. Have you searched for what color house of the time would be? Just a thought.

              1. We’re hanging in. The work team has started working on upgrades and hope to finish in three weeks. Then listed! That will be a huge load off our shoulder’s. The big load is selling it. We still have so many boxes in the garage to unpack but that’s life, getting the house on the market has been the priority. 🙂

    1. Thank you, Maria! We call it swedish red and with whote accents it looks lovely! We have a house that is “swedish style” in city, love it! You can see our house before renovations on “Home” page of the site.

    1. Don’t worry, Mary! It’s ok. Have you ever changed your mind completely about a decorating choice after living with it for a while?

    1. I plant to enjoy the process 🙂 It’s so close and yet so far away 🙂 The help will come on Friday or after midsummer festival. Then we discuss everything and will go shopping for materials/colors need 🙂
