A Slow Day

I wandered around the garden, enjoyed the flowers, checked on everything growing… and had a little visitor — a stork stopping by for a moment. There is something magical about these quiet encounters with nature.

And then I noticed something funny — my dress looks almost exactly like my zinnias! 🌸 Apparently, even my clothes have decided to match the garden.

Maybe I’m slowly becoming part of the flower bed. 😉 But it’s nice… full of bees and butterflies 🙂

  1. Ilze, what a perfect day. Wandering the garden. Checking on things growing. A stork stopping by just to say hello.

And then your dress matching the zinnias. Like the garden decided you belonged there. Like you were already becoming part of it.

That’s the thing about slow days in the garden. You’re not separate from it. You’re in it. The bees and butterflies don’t mind. They know you’re just another bloom. 💙

    1. I love how you put it — “just another bloom” sounds very nice! 🥰 I think I could get used to being part of the flower bed.

  2. Love you loving the day . . . there are two, other ‘loves’ as well . . . adored storks as a child and we do not have them here > that would be magical . . . and, I have always been known as a butterfly and I love the brown and orange ones, so guess what I am staring at 🙂 ?

    1. Oh, then you definitely need to come visit Latvia one day — we have plenty of storks! 🥰 And now I’m curious what kind of butterfly you are staring at! 🦋

      1. Oh, your pretty orange one naturally. For over a decade all my mail had a brown butterfly surrounded by red flowers as a logo . . . your pretty one came close to ‘home’ 🙂 !

  3. ….and a hummingbird moth! Yours is not the first blog that has featured one of those this month. I have seen them only a couple of times ever — such huge things! Summer is beautiful in your place.

    1. Yes! That hummingbird moth was HUGE! I had never really noticed them before, but now I seem to see them everywhere. Summer is definitely beautiful here. ❤️

  4. Nekad never zinat has var darza notikties. Mes vienreiz izlikam ara vecu divanu un nodomajam kamer verl nav aizvests likt pie vietas kur taisijam ugunskurus lai var pasedet un paskatities. Pec lietainas dienas ieverojam kadus putnus ap divanu. Paskatijamies un no divana dazas vietas auga divainas senes.

    1. 😂 Nu jā — dārzā tiešām nekad nevar zināt, kas sagaidīs! Un sēnes, kas izaug no veca dīvāna, noteikti nav tas, ko jūs bijāt plānojuši. 😄

  5. Those photos are amazing. For sure your dress matches well with your zinnias…both are beautiful. Your photos of the bees and butterflies are outstanding! Hugs

    1. Thank you so much! ❤️ I think the bees and butterflies were the real photographers — they just stayed still long enough for me to take the pictures. 😂
