The Weight of the Sky

On sunny days, life’s ups and downs feel lighter. Setbacks come and go, manageable and fleeting. But on gray, heavy days, the downs stack up, and the ups feel distant.

I try to break the spell—to find warmth in small things, to remind myself that this will pass. Some days, it works. Others, it doesn’t. And maybe that’s okay.

The sun will shine again. I hope.

  1. The sun is always shining, the sky is always blue, up above the clouds. Lift your eyes and let your imagination see the snowy mountaintops glistening against an indigo sky. L’essentiel est invisible aux yeux.

    1. That’s a beautiful perspective. Sometimes, it’s hard to remember what’s beyond the clouds, but I appreciate the reminder. L’essentiel est invisible aux yeux—maybe I just need to look differently today. Thank you.

  2. The sun has burned roughly 50% of its fuel and still has enough hydrogen to burn for several million more years. The sun will return. 🌞😎😊

    1. Good to know we won’t run out of sunshine anytime soon! Now if only it could hurry up and warm things up a bit. 😎☀️ Stupid clouds!

      1. Stupid clouds indeed, Ilze! Your weather seems very much like Michigan’s weather – constantly cloudy for 6-8 months of the year. Hence, I stayed in Nevada to avoid that weather after the divorce in 2016. 😂
