Yesterday looked out the window and saw a fox crossing the dandelion field! Just like that — quietly walking through all the yellow flowers.

Of course, I rushed outside with my camera and waited for the fox to come closer. I sat there for probably 20 minutes, simply enjoying the view and the evening silence. But the wind was blowing from my side toward the fox… so she smelled me and decided to take another route instead. Smart girl.
Still, I couldn’t even be disappointed. The field looked absolutely beautiful covered in dandelions, glowing in the evening light. Sometimes I still can’t believe this field is actually our property. I love it so much.

I didn’t get the fox photo I hoped for… but on my way back home, I surprised something else instead.

Can you guess what it was? 🙂 Clue in the last picture!

Labrīt, could it be Marley.
….nope! And that wouldn’t be a surprise. He is always going with me 🙂
What a clever and accurate guess – I think I can see a tail and an ear if I look closely . . . what fun . . . and DO enjoy all the green and yellow 🙂 !
That was fox… but I wanted pictures, something like this: https://latvianmom.com/2025/11/03/between-the-clock-change-and-the-xray/#jp-carousel-20882
Even seeing a fox at a distance is a treat 🙂 That field is so beautiful. You are blessed.
Thank you! Latvia is small, but if you are ready to live 200 km away from capital (I guess 90% of Latvia lives in Capital city) then you can get views and chemical free areas 🙂
Wonderful!
Thank you! I know you have allotment! Was it hard to get/rent?
I am trying to figure out if it is a bird or a fieldmouse!
🙂 Good one! You should see the next post for answer : https://latvianmom.com/2026/05/18/the-unexpected-surprise/
The river I live near is called the Fox because we had many foxes in this area. We’d see them casually walking down the street especially at sunset. Not that we are completely built up, we rarely see the beautiful creatures.
I can’t wish for more foxes in area – neighbours have chickens… apart from that I would love seeing MORE foxes 🙂 Or maybe the same fox, but every other day 🙂
I didn’t find what you saw in the last shot but the whole area looks absolutely lovely. I know the fox looks lovely but in Australia they were introduced so they have no natural enemy and they have been responsible for the extinction of many of Australia’s native animals. But yours looks at home and delightful.
Check the next post 🙂 Yes, I know about foxes in Australia, or Starlings in USA… etc It’s terrible!
