I decided to make a garland from all my straw flowers.
I’ve been collecting them from around the pool and bringing them inside to dry, and now I have a whole bunch of them sitting around waiting for a purpose.
So — a garland.
I want to hang it in the room and bring a little bit of the garden indoors. Something colourful to look at when the days get darker and everything outside slowly turns grey.
And honestly, I’m quite into this. I hope it will cheer me up.
This is what I need right now — just making something with my hands, using flowers I grew myself, and giving them another little life inside the house.
It might look silly, but that is all I can handle right now.

I’m still waiting for the email! The first reply said, “in a month”… but it’s only been 10 days. 😄
I’m starting to feel better, though. I guess I’m getting used to the CPAP machine humming in the background and the feeling of air flowing. It’s becoming part of the normal background noise of my life…

Not silly at all. It’s the kind of thing I would do if I had those flowers to dry. I have walnuts lying around the family to dry just now. Who cares if it’s not fancy? It’s real and it’s rewarding.
They will stay there till Christmas… or.. perhaps I add lights and they can stay there till “spring cleaning” 🙂

Silly??? You’ve given me a good idea for the future, if I should grow strawflowers again. I find that if I think too much about what might be the perfect way to do some creative thing, it just never gets done. You are smart to use your beautiful flowers in such a way that you can keep enjoying them all winter, but they won’t clutter the tabletop 🙂
And who decides what is silly, anyway? What does it even mean?
Thank you! 😊 I think we are often our own worst critics when it comes to creative things. If I had waited for the “perfect” idea, those flowers probably would have ended up in a box somewhere instead of hanging from the cealing. And yes—who gets to decide what is silly anyway? If it makes us happy, I think that’s reason enough. ❤️
